Are you an experienced news reporter seeking a well-paying job covering Canada’s North? NNSL Media, publishers of six award winning newspapers and two news websites, is looking for the ideal candidate for a term position, based in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
The successful candidate will write and shoot photographs primarily for an Inuit audience at nunavutnews.com and its corresponding newspaper Nunavut News. Content will also be made available to Canadian Press. The Local Journalism Initiative reporter will provide high quality news stories and photo features, while gathering information and contributions from residents across Nunavut.
The individual will cover all types of news, including politics, crime and education, with an emphasis on Civic Journalism to enhance community engagement with democratic institutions in the region. Some travel may be required. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and photography skills and some knowledge of the North and Inuit concerns.

NNSL Media offers a competitive salary package up to $60,000 annually commensurate with experience.
Reading and writing lnuktitut syllabics is an asset.
This position does require some evening and weekend work and may require travel to remote communities in Nunavut. The successful candidate will be posted to Iqaluit, capital of Nunavut. The position comes with a rent and utility-free apartment and vehicle.
