Black Press Media’s Comox Valley Record is looking for an eager and competitive journalist to join our team of community journalists.

As a community reporter the successful applicant will get to cover a full range of news, community features, arts, culture, and sports that will be published locally and potentially across Black Press Media’s Canadian network.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and talents:

  • Superior writing ability in a multimedia space.
  • Competence in clean, readable, and writerly copy.
  • Strong understanding of breaking news reporting.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and is keen to learn and develop their skillsets.

The successful candidate must be a team player and have an innovative mindset. They should be able to multitask, write using CP Style under quick deadlines and feel confident in executing meaningful storytelling in a complex digital publishing environment. Videography skills, including shooting and editing, are integral.

This role is supported by an Editor and Group Publisher.

Expected annual salary: $46,000
