We are looking for a passionate journalist interested in diving into all that is the community of Wetaskiwin, Alta.

Under the publication of Pipestone Flyer, this journalist would have the opportunity to explore all kinda of storytelling: breaking news, crime, events, sports, agriculture, Indigenous affairs and politics.

They would be joining a team of editors and journalists in newsrooms in Red Deer, Ponoka, Rimbey, Sylvan Lake, Lacombe, Bashaw, Castor and Stettler. This position is supported by the Central Alberta regional editor

  • Candidates will have outstanding and diverse writing abilities, specifically aimed at breaking news, fast response and quick turnaround.
  • The successful applicant for this entry-level position will be a vital contributor to our websites and social media engagement, working a flexible shift schedule that will include evenings and weekend days.
  • Successful candidates will possess an excellent understanding of social media, photography, video and print journalism, including a working knowledge of Photoshop and iMovie.
  • Key importance is placed on the ability to maintain the website and digital platforms that showcase important stories to our loyal readers.
