Black Press Media has a prime opportunity for an eager journalist to spend a year diving into the Cariboo community of Williams Lake.

This position is ideal for a storyteller looking to explore a tight-knit region and champion hyperlocal journalism, with opportunities to continue a long-term career in one of Canada’s largest news networks.

The successful applicant will:

  • Possess outstanding writing and oral communication skills and a clear understanding of copy-editing, grammar and Canadian Press style.
  • Be responsible for a wide range of writing assignments with a focus on community and civic journalism.
  • Have flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines in a weekly production environment.

Broadcast training and experience is a distinct asset, as well as a working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and iMovie.

This role, which is part of the Local Journalism Initiative and is a one-year term, is supported by a regional editor and local publisher.
